Kentucky Could Be First State to Test Ibogaine

The Bluegrass State is looking to become the first in the U.S. to trial ibogaine as a potential treatment for opioid addiction, Forbes reported.

The Kentucky Opioid Abatement Advisory Commission is considering the allocation of $42 million from a settlement with opioid producers to finance ibogaine trials.

Ibogaine is derived from the root of a West African shrub and has shown promise as a treatment for opioid addiction.
