16 people hospitalized after consuming mushroom edibles.

Federal health agencies are investigating a series of illnesses associated with consumption of Diamond Shruumz-brand edible products, prompting a nationwide warning to consumers and retailers. The Food and Drug Administration and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have reported 26 cases across 16 states, with 25 individuals seeking medical care and 16 requiring hospitalization, according to a June 18 news release.

The products in question include Diamond Shruumz-brand Microdosing Chocolate Bars, Infused Cones and both Micro Dose and Macro Dose Gummies.

Symptoms reported by affected individuals range from seizures and loss of consciousness to abnormal heart rates, agitation, and severe gastrointestinal distress.

As of June 18, the FDA has not pinpointed the exact cause of the illnesses. The agency is currently analyzing samples of the products and is in discussions with the manufacturer regarding a possible voluntary recall.

As the investigation continues, health officials urge anyone experiencing adverse effects after consuming these products to seek immediate medical attention and report the incident to local health authorities or the Poison Help Line.
